Why Auditions?
Auditions help involve more performers from the community, not just our school. They also prepare dancers for future opportunities like colleges, summer programs, and performance roles.
Auditioning is a skill that takes practice, and this process helps dancers learn confidence, responsibility, and how to handle both success and disappointment—important lessons in the performing arts.
Why do we audition?
• Auditions help the director:
• See a dancer’s commitment through attendance and participation
• Collect sizes and scheduling conflicts
• Share important details with families
,• Open opportunities for community members to join seasonal productions
What happens at auditions?
Auditions: August 24–26
Exact times will be announced by August 1.
Dancers will:
• Learn a short combination with an audition number
• Be measured for costumes
• Participate in a short character audition if auditioning for a role
Accepted cast members will attend a parent meeting before the first rehearsal to receive schedules and paperwork.
Attire:
Female dancers: Leotard, pink tights, hair in a bun, ballet slippers (or pointe shoes if required)
Male dancers: Dance pants and white shirt
Character role auditions: Comfortable attire with a prepared acting or musical excerpt
Do I need ballet experience?
No. Roles range from ages 4 through adult, with opportunities for all experience levels. Some roles require dance training, while others require little or no dance experience—just a love of performing.
Additional details and dates will be shared at auditions and the parent meeting.
Rehearsals begin the second weekend in September and are generally held Fridays, Saturdays, and some Tuesdays.
Performance location: the beautiful Blackfoot Performing Arts Center.
